At the Ladenburg facility, close to the major industrial centres of Mannheim and Ludwigshafen, HGK Logistics and Intermodal began operation of a modern multi-user logistics centre in 2021. For the chemical and pharmaceuticals companies that are strongly represented in the region, buildings were developed for temperature-controlled storage and for the storage of hazardous substances. This operational area is subject to the regulations for systems requiring authorisation, the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) and StFV.
The building complex comprises three indoor areas, which are divided into 18 storage sections. The overall storage area comprises 50,000 sqm and offers capacity for some 70,000 pallet bays (basis CP1). Two storage sections are designed for refrigerated storage (two up to eight degrees Celsius). A total of 57 loading gates ensure fast, smooth loading and unloading of the vehicles.
The overall output of the PV system is considerably larger still, with a capacity of 3.75 MWp. This adds up to an annual CO2 reduction of some 1600 tonnes.
Building up a fleet of electric trucks for regional delivery runs is the next consistent step that we are currently pursuing.
Modern technology has also been used in the safety features of the facility. This ranges from state-of-the-art gas, smoke and fire detectors to a single-position sprinkler system and high-performance foam extinguisher systems. An in-house developed storage management system ensures that reliable inspection and compliance with the bans on mixed storage under TRGS 510 are maintained.
We are certain: In Ladenburg we offer our customers one of the most modern and efficient storage and logistics centres in Germany.
