The availability of logistics space with connections to sustainable transport modes is increasingly becoming a competitive factor for many industrial sectors and urban economic areas. Based on HGK's ports in the Cologne area and along the Rhine, the Real Estate division develops and markets sustainably developed industrial and warehouse space with optimal bi- and trimodal transport connections.
One example: with the Fusion Cologne project, we are developing a trimodally developed, sustainable industrial and logistics site in the north of Cologne in the immediate vicinity of Niehl harbour. On a total area of up to 55 hectares, several multi-level buildings will be constructed in the future, in which logistics and light industrial uses can be combined. Here, efficient use of space is combined with sustainable transport solutions in combined transport.

We are responding to the changes in the transformation and industrial supply chains by investing in the infrastructure and superstructure of our ports. With a bundle of measures, we are further developing existing areas in the multi-purpose port of Cologne-Niehl for new groups of goods, optimising existing handling capacities, investing in the automation and digitalisation of processes and creating space for completely new settlements with the Fusion Cologne project.
We are responding to the changes in industrial supply chains by investing in new space and expanding the container terminal. This also includes the FUSION COLOGNE site development as a modern extension of the harbour with new prospects for industry and logistics.
Here, we are developing a brownfield site of up to 55 hectares in the immediate vicinity of Niehl harbour with its trimodal connection. The designated GI area enables the development of efficient, multi-storey buildings with ridge heights of up to 24 metres for industry and logistics on plots of 20,000 square metres or more.
