Grant notification for HGK AG: Investments in infrastructure and services of general interest

Düsseldorf. A pleasant appointment at the NRW Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport: Minister Oliver Krischer personally presented funding decisions to several non-federally owned public railway infrastructure companies (NE railways) in Düsseldorf. HGK COO Dr Jens-Albert Oppel and HGK Railway Operations Manager Berthold Suermann were delighted to receive a grant of 689,050 euros. The grant, which will be paid out in two instalments, will be used to renew the railway track in the HGK network and is therefore an important step towards sustainably strengthening our infrastructure.

When handing over the notifications, Minister Krischer emphasised that the grants were money well spent, as the NE railways play an important role for the state of NRW in the transport transition towards "safe, clean and better mobility". The amount will be used by HGK AG for track and switch construction measures in Hürth, Brühl and Niehl. "By modernising our lines, we are making an important contribution to public services for the city of Cologne, the region and the local businesses," says Dr Oppel.

HGK's total investment volume for this project amounts to 1.72 million euros. The measure is 50 per cent funded by the federal government and 40 per cent by the state - an important signal for strengthening climate-friendly mobility.
