Duisburg / Rotterdam. From 1 October 2025, HGK Shipping will manage its push boat activities from the Dutch port of Rotterdam. Previously, this was done at the Duisburg location. With the changeover, the company aims to intensify cooperation between the two branches and increase the efficiency of transport processes.
Jos Davidse will take over the management of push boat shipping at the start of the 4th quarter of 2025. Andreas Lemme, Managing Director of HGK Dry Shipping, is thus handing over this part of the dry shipping business to the experienced logistics manager. Jos Davidse joined Europe's largest inland shipping company at the beginning of the year and became part of the management of HGK Shipping Rotterdam on 1 January 2025.
As a central hub for the international transport of goods, Rotterdam is also of particular importance for the inland waterway transport organised by HGK Shipping. Goods from all over the world are fed into the European continent's waterway system via Europe's largest seaport. They also find their way in the opposite direction onto ships bound for America, Asia or Africa.
HGK Dry Shipping's push boat service fulfils a central supply function for the steel and chemical industries in the Lower Rhine region. "By relocating this area of responsibility to Rotterdam, we are creating the basis for making our services in this important transport segment even more efficient and future-oriented," explains Jos Davidse, who will have overall responsibility for push boat shipping at HGK Dry Shipping in future.
Before joining HGK Shipping in Rotterdam, Jos Davidse worked in management positions at recognised companies in the shipping industry, most recently as Senior General Manager at thyssenkrupp Veerhaven. "Alongside the optimisation of internal processes, we can now offer our transport solutions to customers in an even more targeted manner. This is made possible by the relocation of our push boat shipping activities from Duisburg to Rotterdam and by the appointment of Jos Davidse as the person responsible for this division of HGK Dry Shipping. His extensive industry expertise, combined with a deep understanding of operational processes and commercial requirements, makes him the ideal person for this position," says Steffen Bauer, CEO of HGK Shipping, explaining the organisational realignment.
