Alliance between HGK Group terminals on the Rhine and Ruhr becomes HGK Intermodal GmbH
Cologne / Duisburg. The development of HGK Logistics and Intermodal into an integrated logistics services provider is continuing. The trimodal terminal sites of the HGK Group on the Rhine and Ruhr have previously operated on the market as a group of individual businesses. Now the former terminal alliance between RRT, KCT and CTS is merging under one roof to form HGK Intermodal GmbH.
‘With the founding of HGK Intermodal GmbH we are positioning ourselves stably for the future. In terms of our customers and with regard to market demands we will work together to expand our services portfolio and will combine our efforts to do so.
One thing is certain: the established performance level will at least remain the same or even improved at all terminal locations. The familiar operational contacts will not change either," says Markus Krämer, CEO of HGK Logistics and Intermodal, explaining the motives behind the change.
‘We discussed with many of our customers beforehand which structures they needed to ensure that their business activities were optimally supported. This feedback has had much in common with our own considerations and has strengthened us in such a way that we wish to shape the future successfully as HGK Intermodal GmbH. I am certain that we can also develop new market potential this way, as well.’
HGK Intermodal GmbH links the terminals on the Rhine and Ruhr with the European seaports of Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven and Hamburg in an environmentally manner with regular rail and barge connections. A total of roughly 1.5 million TEU of container handling was carried out in the 2022 business year.
