Andreas Bögner becomes port manager: BUSS HGK appoints a new managing director in Duisburg

Duisburg, 14 June 2024 – HGK Shipping is reorganising the company management within a joint venture operated with BUSS at the Huckingen private harbour in Duisburg. The experienced logistics manager, Andreas Bögner, is taking over as managing director of BUSS HGK Logistics from July 2024 onwards. Working together with Morten Lund, he will be responsible for the company that supplies the Krupp-Mannesmann steelworks (HKM). Among other things, the 80 or so employees there organise the handling and warehouse services for the renowned steel manufacturer.

“Efficient logistics services ensure smooth operating procedures for our customer, HKM. We’re appointing a very experienced sector expert as manager of BUSS HGK Logistics in the shape of Andreas Bögner and he’ll be responsible for the operating business,” says Steffen Bauer, the CEO of the BUSS HGK shareholder, HGK Shipping. “Working alongside Morten Lund, he’ll create the best possible conditions for meeting all our customers’ needs.”

Andreas Bögner has been working for HGK Shipping for more than two decades. Among other things, he worked for previous organisations such as Imperial Shipping and subsidiaries like HGK Dry Shipping. His close links to the logistics business, where he started to gain his experience at Haniel Shipping Company from 1991 onwards, make Andreas Bögner a real specialist. His career has mainly focused on inland waterway shipping as well as heavy-duty and project logistics in the past. However, he also knows all about port management and has gained expertise in traffic management at companies like the former HGK Alumina Logistics. Andreas Bögner made his mark at the business site in Neuss in organising the handling of raw materials for the aluminium industry, where he was able to secure an increase in value added as a result of using innovative logistics concepts.

Buss Port Logistics and HGK Shipping in Duisburg have complemented each other within BUSS HGK Logistics when fulfilling the business tasks for HKM since 2012. The efficient handling of raw materials such as ore, pellets and coking coal guarantees the supplies for the factory. The professional storage of products such as slabs and round steel as well as operating a dispatch warehouse at the port site make it possible to distribute these goods for further utilisation.

“The team at Duisburg-Huckingen has provided excellent services during the last few years despite the difficult underlying conditions. We need to build on this in future in order to further strengthen the existing logistics network for the benefit of our customer and create even greater value added for it in the field of supply chain management,” Andreas Bögner explains.

His predecessor, David Penschek, is leaving the joint venture at the end of June at his own request. He joined HGK Shipping in the middle of 2021 and also took over the position of managing director of BUSS HGK Logistics in August during the same year.
