HGK AG consolidates locations of the Infrastructure and Maintenance division in Brühl

Cologne / Brühl. In the Infrastructure and Maintenance division of Häfen und Güterverkehr Köln AG (HGK), a total of around 200 employees are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the regional rail network as well as the servicing and maintenance of locomotives and wagons. So far, the colleagues have been operating at three different locations. By 2027 at the latest, the divisions are to be merged into one unit in Brühl-Vochem.

HGK AG's three Infrastructure and Maintenance sites are currently located in Cologne-Godorf, Wesseling and Brühl-Vochem. "The decentralised network and workshop organisation is simply no longer up to date. That's why we decided to merge them, also to be able to organise operational processes better," explains HGK CEO Uwe Wedig. "The new building in Vochem fulfils all operational requirements and creates a modern and attractive working environment for our colleagues," adds HGK COO Dr Jens-Albert Oppel.

Better working conditions, more efficiency

After around five months of planning, the building application for the new HGK depot has now been submitted to the city of Brühl. "We involved the responsible departments of the city of Brühl at an early stage. The cooperation was very constructive," says Dr Jens-Albert Oppel, pleased with the speedy planning process.
