The rail network operation segment is responsible for the operation and management of rail transport over some 250 km of HGK-owned track in Cologne and the surrounding area.
The regional HGK track network provides many connections between major industrial centres and to important logistics hubs, for example to the inland waterway ports at Niehl and Godorf, the Bickendorf freight rail freight depots and the Köln Nord terminal for intermodal transport. Through the links to the interregional route network, we can provide freight transport throughout Europe, with start or destination in Cologne, Wesseling, Frechen or Dormagen.
For rail infrastructure companies and rail transport companies, the business segment Infrastructure also offers services for the provision of the railway operations managers pursuant to the Railway Operations Managers Ordinance (Eisenbahnbetriebsleiterverordnung - EBV) for regional rail infrastructure companies and for regional rail transport companies.
In compliance with the Construction and Operation of Railway Sidings Ordinance (Verordnung über den Bau von Anschlussbahnen - BOA), HGK performs the duties of the railway operations manager for regional connecting sidings.
