The trend in energy costs is one of the key factors affecting transport costs and is sometimes subject to significant fluctuations. For this reason, we also use flexible pricing components, known as the ‘bunker adjustment factor’ (BAF), to calculate energy costs based on the current average price of diesel. Our overview enables you to plan your costs based on the current average price of diesel.
It is based on the regulations of the Dutch association for inland waterway transport, Koninklijke Binnenvaart Nederland (KBN). This institution, which is recognised by the transport industry, determines the monthly purchase price per 100 litres of diesel. The market price determined by the KBN serves as the primary basis for all carriers when calculating fuel surcharges.
