Cologne / Duisburg. There are personnel changes in the management of HGK Logistics and Intermodal GmbH: As of 1 February 2024 Jens Schmeidler will assume the function of Chief Operating Officer (COO), taking over from Andreas Grzib. The former Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Dr Jan Zeese is leaving the company by mutual agreement.
“In Jens Schmeidler we have been able to recruit a highly experienced manager for the position of COO at HGK Logistics and Intermodal. He brings a wide range of expertise, in particular in the field of contract logistics. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours’, says Uwe Wedig, CEO of shareholder Häfen und Güterverkehr Köln AG. At the same time, he thanked Jan Zeese for his services to HGK Logistics and Intermodal: ‘In the last few years Jan Zeese has helped in many ways to drive forward the modernisation of today’s HGK Logistics and Intermodal – for example through his significant role in the construction of our successful new site at Ladenburg.’
Jens Schmeidler has many years of experience as a manager in retail and in the transport and logistics sectors. Earlier in his career he served in various management functions, including with Hellmann, Deutsche Post DHL and Hermes Fulfilment and as a manager and director for Meyer & Meyer. He is now moving from his current function as Group Division Head of Retail Services & Fulfilment with ANWR Group eG to the HGK Group. Schmeidler, 52, succeeds as COO from Andreas Grzib, who left the company at his own request in summer 2023.
‘HGK Logistics and Intermodal GmbH finds itself, like the HGK Group overall, on an exciting transformation path. I am delighted to be able to support and shape this process in the near future’, says Jens Schmeidler. Together with Markus Krämer, Chief Executive Officer (Chairman of the Board) and starting 1 February 2024, Schmeidler will be a managing director of HGK Logistics and Intermodal GmbH.
Dr Jan Zeese leaves the company with immediate effect. ‘In 2024 neska will also formally renamed to HGK Logistics and Intermodal. This is a further important step. I warmly wish everyone involved every success and am grateful that I was able to help shape the path for a while," emphasises Dr Jan Zeese.
