Clothing, blankets, heaters, baby food – people in the areas of Turkey and Syria ravaged by the immense earthquake continue to need many things in order to survive. Employees of HGK Logistics and Intermodal have now worked voluntary overtime hours at the Duisburg, Krefeld and Neuss sites to enable the transport of 300 tonnes of relief supplies to the crisis region.
“Many of our employees have relatives who were affected by this disaster. It is therefore naturally an urgent matter for us as a company and an employer to offer help free of bureaucracy.”
In two shifts, 16 employees in Neuss loaded a total of 15 containers with 300 tonnes of relief supplies. These were then forwarded by rail. Similar activities were also in full swing at the locations in Duisburg and Krefeld. “The work required was provided on a voluntary basis by everybody. We are proud as a company of this commitment by our workforce,” said Markus Krämer. The equivalent value of the aid activities performed is estimated to be about €20,000.
