Dispatcher, Rhine, HGK Shipping

A day in the life of a charterer/dispatcher

The charterer’s day at HGK Shipping starts at 8 in the morning. The tasks of the day are discussed first and solutions sought so as to organise the loads and vessels in the best possible way. Next, a team meeting is held with colleagues from the other subsidiaries to clarify what other tasks are necessary. This is followed by the planning and organisation of vessels currently in use; in parallel, vacant vessels are provided with offers. Alongside the particular tasks of the day are administrative duties such as the checking of incoming invoices and preliminary costings.
