HGK Logistics and Intermodal and ZHD Stevedores agree to cooperate closely on a future-oriented project in Dordrecht (NL)
Within the context of the ‘transport logistic’ trade fair in Munich, neska Containerline B.V., a company of HGK Logistics and Intermodal, and the Netherlands-based handling provider ZHD Stevedores agreed to cooperate closely on a sustainable, future-orientated project. The partners intend to develop a logistics hub in Dordrecht, Netherlands. This multi-purpose terminal will substantially improve the quality of freight transport via the waterways from and to the North Sea coast since it will allow the heavily-used terminals of the Antwerp and Rotterdam seaports to be relieved.
On Thursday 11 May 2023, neska Containerline B.V. and ZHD will sign a contract for a feasibility study at the ‘transport logistic’ trade fair.
“I am delighted that we are moving forward together with the planning. Such cooperation will enable us to gain new prospects for our existing container logistics in the European hinterland. Additionally, opportunities will arise for supplying the Benelux market via an integrated warehouse concept.”
On the proposed 78,000 m² of space, it will be possible in future to control the handling, storage and transport of containers from the hinterland much more flexibly. This will reduce the load on both sea terminals and waterways while also enabling better planning capability for freight transports. “Finally there is the prospect of realising a long-cherished desire: a terminal near the seaport, off the coast, will open up the possibility for us for further optimising the services for our customers and raising the quality level,” says Hans Buytendijk, director of neska Containerline B.V.
Construction on the site on Prins Willem Alexander Kade in Dordrecht will be carried out by ZHD Stevedores and provided in turnkey form.
“We are hoping for more diversity, spread and expansion of activities from our collaboration with neska Containerline B.V. We are excited to work with a top specialist that specialises in container logistics and that maintains its own barge link with the hinterland.”
Within the framework of the collaboration, both partners are now intensively sounding out the market opportunities and the practical layout of the site.
