The HGK Group joins TOB and strengthens security of supply in the event of a crisis

Cologne. The HGK Group is set to play a role in civil emergency preparedness: its subsidiary, HGK Logistics and Intermodal GmbH (HGK LI), has been admitted to the Federal Transport Organisation (TOB). The certificate was presented to HGK CEO Steffen Bauer by Christian Hoffmann, President of the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM), during a visit to Niehl Harbour.

TOB pools transport capacity from various companies to ensure supplies reach the public and the economy in the event of a crisis. The aim is to achieve coordinated and efficient logistics across all modes of transport.

By joining the network, HGK brings its multimodal expertise to bear. This includes, in particular, services in inland waterway transport, rail freight, contract logistics and at intermodal interfaces. Stable and interconnected supply chains are crucial, particularly in crisis situations.

“My thanks go to the team at HGK Logistics and Intermodal – in particular Markus Krämer – for the preparation and future operational implementation within the TOB,” said Steffen Bauer. Markus Krämer was unable to attend the meeting.

Commenting on the strategic significance, Steffen Bauer said: “By joining the TOB, we are strengthening security of supply across all modes of transport. It is particularly in crisis situations that the importance of functioning networks between the state and the private sector becomes apparent.”
